Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools would like to thank God for all of Creation. We acknowledge that many of our schools are located on Treaty Six territory to the North of the Red Deer River, which is comprised of the ancestral and traditional lands of the Cree (Nêhiyawak), Ojibwa (Anishinaabe), Nakoda Sioux and the Dene people. We also acknowledge that many of our schools are located on Treaty Seven territory to the South of the Red Deer River, which is comprised of the ancestral and traditional lands of Niitsitapi (Neet-SIT-apee) from the Blackfoot Confederacy, which includes Siksika (Six-ih-GAH), Piikani (bee-GAH-nee) and Kainai (GUY-nah); the Îyârhe (ee-YAH-hay) Stoney Nakoda of the Chiniki (CHIN-ih-kee), Bearspaw , and Wesley Nations; and the Dene of the Tsuu T’ina (soot-IN-uh) Nation. We acknowledge the land that Red Deer is now on is also traditional territory of the Métis and we are part of Region Three with Métis Nation of Alberta. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries, and whose respectful stewardship have enabled us all to enjoy the riches of the Creator’s blessings.
